Infertility, Treatment and ICSI Treatment Cost

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is a kind of assisted reproduction technology. The process is used to complete the IVF treatment to help the couples to conceive effectively. In today’s time, it is the most successful artificial successful fertilization treatments used by couples in case of infertility.
What does ICSI really stand for?
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is a scientific approach of reproduction which needs a single sperm to be directed and injected in the female egg for fertilization. The process is mostly done in cases of male infertility or in situations where IVF treatment hasn’t helped in the past.
Situations where ICSI may be suggested:
1.       When the partner suffers from ejaculation problems
2.       When the partner has low sperm count
3.       When you need to choose the best sperm for fertilization
4.       When there is a genetic disease which needs to be avoided
5.       When the partner has abnormally shaped sperms
6.       When the sperm doesn’t show in samples
Success rate of ICSI

It majorly depends on the infertility problem cause. The health and age of the egg of also matters. So, the healthier the eggs are the higher is the pregnancy success rate. One can look at the success rate of ICSI depends on the age of women:
·       Women below 34 years of age 43% success rate
·       Women between 35 to 37 years of age 39% success rate
·       Women between 38 to 40 years of age 30% success rate
·       Women between 40 to 43 years of age 22% success rate
Traditional IVF methods enhance the success rate of ICIS treatment.
Benefits of using ICSI procedure
1.       It works as a good measure to treat male infertility
2.       A couple can have a genetic child with the help of ICSI
3.       There aren’t any signs of physical and mental problems in the baby.
However, ICSI is costlier than IVF at times. It is a successful treatment a lot of people who have undergone failed IVF treatment often go for this. Special monitoring of a patient is needed to prevent any side effect from creeping in during ICSI treatment.
Cost of ICSI in India
The basic cost of ICSI treatment in India ranges from INR 2,40,000 to INR 2,75,000. In case if you need more advanced technology, then there is an additional expense of INR 1,50,000 to INR 2,50,000. However, the ICSI treatment cost differs from one hospital to another and one doctor to another.
Assisted reproductive techniques have helped several couples to conceive a healthy baby. Efficient treatment and care is need to help a patient get comfortable during the treatment proceeding. It is suggested that the patient should completely abide by the doctor’s advice and be in constant contact with them to avoid any complications, side effects or risk. Thousands of infertile couples have been able to conceive a baby via ICSI.
ICSI or IVF
The two are the most commonly used fertility treatments. However, the major different between ICSI and IVF is the process in which the sperm fertilizes with the egg. In the IVF technology, the sperm and egg are kept in a dish to fertilize by their self. In the ICSI technology, one sperm is injected to the egg. It is important that you choose the procedure depending on your condition. However, both these procedures should not be confused with IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination). So, if you ask ICSI or IVF which one is better for you, then the answer is given below:
ICSI is better for those who suffer from sperm related infertility. It is because it is a successful treatment for those suffering from male infertility as the sperm is provided more support here. So, if you suffer from 1. low sperm count 2. abnormal sperm shape 3. sperm needs to be collected surgically, then you should go for ICSI.
IVF, on the other hand is suitable for different types of people and a majority of them have fertility problems. Hence, there are several types of IVF recommended depending on age and health condition.
Similarity and differences of ICSI and IVF
ICSI is just as same as IVF because egg and sperm are collected from the partners. Once collected, an embryologist inseminates the ages and chooses the ones which have to be fertilized. They are monitored in an incubator for at least 5 days and then the best ones are transferred to the womb for implantation.
ICSI differs from IVF as every egg is directly infused with a single sperm and the sperm has to naturally penetrate the egg.
Apart from this, both the procedures are same and highly successful.
